As Vice President of Transitional Housing, Jerry Heaney manages Samaritan Daytop Village's portfolio of 32 family and single adult transitional housing facilities, which provide temporary housing to nearly 6,000 homeless New Yorkers each night. In this role, he also oversees our collaboration with the NYC Department of Social Services, NYC Department of Homeless Services, NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, and other government and private entities. Among his many achievements, he led the efforts to grow the transitional housing portfolio from $100 million to $250 million within the span of a decade. 

Mr. Heaney spent his entire career at Samaritan Daytop Village, having joined the agency in 1990. He most recently served as Assistant Vice President of Transitional Housing and before then Senior Director for the agency's shelter and annex sites. Over the years, his increasing levels of responsibility have included positions as Assistant Program Director, Clinical Supervisor, and Case Manager. Mr. Heaney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Community and Human Services from Empire State College and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from John Jay College. An avid swimmer, he resides in Staten Island with his wife and daughter.
