Samaritan Daytop Village recognizes the road to recovery for chronic substance users may require medically assisted treatment. We offer four licensed, medically staffed, community-based programs focused on stabilization and detoxification in both the outpatient and residential treatment facility settings.
Medically Assisted Treatment and Recovery Center
Samaritan Daytop Village’s state-of-the-art Medically Assisted Treatment and Recovery (MTAR) Center is located in Richmond Hill, Queens. One of New York’s few licensed, community-based programs of its kind, this program is designed to treat chronic substance users seeking stabilization and medically supervised detoxification in a residential setting.
Our medically assisted treatment and recovery services are individually tailored to the needs of each client. Treatment at Richmond Hill begins with stabilization of the individual using medication to manage withdrawal, and includes a comprehensive needs assessment, ongoing medication management and involvement in psychosocial counseling. Once a client has stabilized, a plan is developed between the client and the physician to decide a detoxification or a maintenance track. In the detoxification track, our medical staff works with each client to pace a gradual reduction of the medication to a level that promotes optimum recovery, with many individuals electing to become fully abstinent from medication. Some clients are maintained on doses more suited to their individual recovery needs. The overall goal of the MTAR program is to have the client optimize the potential for recovery and assist the client in making the transition back to the community.
Our MTAR Center is accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and licensed by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
Cape Road Residential Treatment Program
Samaritan Daytop Village designed residential treatment services to meet the specific needs of adults with chronic substance use histories. Our treatment programs provide intensive, highly structured treatment environments using the principles of the therapeutic community model as their foundation.
Our Cape Road Residential Treatment Program, located in Ellenville, NY, enlists medically-assisted treatment for those dependent on heroin and other opiates. Like our other residential treatment facilities, Cape Road enlists a combination of counseling, and self and mutual help as well as a wide range of treatment services, including group and individual addiction-focused counseling, primary and mental health care, education, training and employment services, family reunification and housing assistance.
Medication-Assisted Treatment
Samaritan Daytop Village operates two Opioid Treatment Program clinics in the Bronx for clients with addictions who require opioid replacement therapy through daily doses of Methadone or Buprenorphine, or other medication-assisted treatment. The program provides comprehensive primary care, as well as short-term and long-term psychiatric and psychotherapy. Methadone clients have easy access to on-site or nearby primary medical services, intensive case management, and Directly Observed Therapies (for tuberculosis).
The Opioid Treatment Program facilities are approved by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, New York State Department of Health, and U.S. Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, and are accredited by the Joint Commission. (The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, which accredits nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.)
